The renowned luxury ship Seabourn Odyssey is currently on her final voyage through Alaska, marking the end of her service with Seabourn before transitioning to a new career under Mitsui Ocean Cruises Japan.

Following this voyage, the ship will enter a drydock in Vancouver BC for an extensive refurbishment to meet the standards of the Japanese company and will be renamed "Mitsui Ocean Fuji".

During the current 7-day Alaska cruise, the vessel underwent its last US Public Health (USPH) inspection, achieving a perfect score of 100%, reflecting the Seabourn crew's dedication to maintaining high standards.

Once refurbished, Mitsui Ocean Fuji will embark on a 23-day Transpacific relocation voyage from Seattle to Yokohama (RepositionCruises.com).

Subsequently, the ship will commence roundtrips from Tokyo/Yokohama, between December 1, 2024, and January 8, 2025. The itineraries will range from 5 to 10 days, visiting Japan's ports Beppu, Shingu, Kochi, Takamatsu, Kagoshima, as well as Korea's ports Jeju and Busan.

The transition follows Carnival Corporation's sale of the Seabourn Odyssey to MOL/Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd in March 2023. Despite the sale, Seabourn continued to operate the vessel through August 2024 under a time-charter agreement, with the official handover to Mitsui scheduled for September 2024.

In October 2023, MOL Cruises Ltd announced the introduction of its new travel brand, Mitsui Ocean Cruises, and revealed Seabourn Odyssey's new name - Mitsui Ocean Fuji. The vessel will join MOL Cruises' fleet as their second ship, joining the fleetmate Nippon Maru.
