RCI-Royal Caribbean International has engaged Bahamian-owned SEV Consulting Group, a leading environmental consulting firm, to oversee independent environmental monitoring for the construction and operation of the Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island, close to Nassau. This partnership aligns with Royal Caribbean's commitment to adhere to both local and international environmental standards.
SEV Consulting Group, with extensive experience in environmental projects across The Bahamas since 2007, is currently overseeing the demolition phase and the government-mandated removal of 1600+ non-native plants and trees to restore the native habitat on the 17-acre site. As the project progresses toward its scheduled opening in late 2025, SEV will continue to monitor the reconstruction phase, which includes the development of small-scale buildings, pools, lounge areas, and docks.
SEV’s role includes ensuring compliance with Royal Caribbean’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP), both required under The Bahamas’ Environmental Planning and Protection Act of 2019.
The firm conducts regular site inspections, collaborates with the construction team to address any environmental concerns, and submits monthly reports to The Bahamas' Department of Environmental Planning and Protection (DEPP).
During the construction phase, SEV monitors will be present on-site full-time to ensure ongoing compliance and environmental protection.
