Carnival Vista passengers demand refunds after last-minute itinerary change

A voyage with CCL-Carnival Cruise Lines turned chaotic before even leaving port, as passengers demanded refunds following an unexpected itinerary change.

The Carnival Vista ship, scheduled for an 8-night Southern Caribbean roundtrip from Port Canaveral/Orlando (Florida USA) on August 10th, encountered engine issues, prompting a last-minute switch to the Bahamas instead of the original stops in Aruba/Oranjestad, Curacao/Willemstad and Grand Turk.

Instead, Carnival Vista visited Nassau, Freeport, Princess Cays and Half Moon Cay.

Footage shared online shows passengers chanting "Give us our money!" in frustration after learning of the change, some while still boarding the ship. Tensions rose as guests requested refunds and considered leaving the vessel.

In response, CCL offered two choices: remain onboard with a voucher (US$400 per stateroom in OBC/onboard credit) and 125% in FCC/future cruise credit or cancel the voyage and disembark with a full refund (100% of the cruise fare in FCC) plus US$200 per person for reimbursement of independent travel expenses). The FCC must be redeemed by August 31, 2025.
