A CCL-Carnival Cruise Line ship made minor contact with a piece of ice while navigating Alaska’s Tracy Arm Fjord last week, though no hull damage was reported, and the vessel continued the voyage uninterrupted.
Despite some passengers likening the incident to a "modern Titanic moment," CCL confirmed that the hull of Carnival Spirit was thoroughly inspected and found to be undamaged.
The ship continued the scheduled 7-day roundtrip itinerary and is expected to return to Seattle, Washington, today as planned. Some passengers took to social media, sharing images of the encounter, including a photo showing a tugboat trailing behind the vessel as it passed over the submerged ice.
Meanwhile, another Carnival ship - Carnival Vista, had to reroute her Caribbean journey on September 6th due to engine issues, sparking demands for refunds from passengers.
