Viking Cruises marks a significant milestone with the return of the Viking Yi Dun to China, completing its inaugural voyage from Shanghai to Hong Kong (Shenzhen).

These exclusive itineraries provide rare access to lesser-known coastal destinations, offering Viking guests a unique experience not available to international travelers before.

From September to November, the 930-guest Viking Yi Dun, formerly known as Viking Sun, will operate these voyages, showcasing the same award-winning design and service that defines Viking’s fleet.

Torstein Hagen, Viking’s Chairman and CEO, highlighted China’s untapped appeal stating that China’s ancient history and culture remain largely unexplored by many travelers. After 15 years of introducing their guests to China through Yangtze River cruises, Viking are excited to offer these new coastal voyages, showcasing the country in a distinctively Viking manner.

The launch was commemorated with a ceremony in Shanghai, featuring local officials and cultural performances that celebrated China’s rich heritage. As Viking Yi Dun visited ports including Zhoushan, Dongtou, Pingtan, Xiamen, and Shenzhen, it was warmly welcomed by local communities.
