MOL Cruises, Ltd., the operator of Mitsui Ocean Cruises, officially took delivery of Mitsui Ocean Fuji in a ceremony held aboard Seabourn Odyssey after its arrival in Yokohama, Japan. The event marked the conclusion of the Odyssey's 22-day Farewell Voyage from the United States. As part of the handover, Mitsui Ocean Cruises' flag was raised, symbolizing the vessel’s transition to Mitsui Ocean Fuji, which is set to debut on December 1st, 2024.
Captain Krasimir Radev of Seabourn Odyssey handed the ship over to Captain Kim Karlsson, who will helm Mitsui Ocean Fuji. Both captains congratulated Mitsui Ocean Cruises during the ceremony, which was attended by senior executives from both companies, as well as officials from the Yokohama Port Authority.
The ship, cherished by many cruise enthusiasts, was greeted with a warm reception at Yokohama’s Shinko Pier by employees of Mitsui Ocean Cruises and the MOL Group. Following the handover, Mitsui Ocean Fuji will enter Mitsubishi Shipyard for a series of refurbishments, including suite upgrades, galley improvements, and the rebranding of key onboard venues. Crew training will also commence ahead of the ship’s inaugural voyage.
Mitsui Ocean Fuji, a 32,477-ton, 458-guest vessel, will launch as Japan's most luxurious all-suite ship, offering spacious accommodations, traditional omotenashi service, and exquisite Japanese cuisine. The ship’s itineraries will feature scenic voyages showcasing Japan's natural beauty and cultural heritage. The inaugural season includes debut sailings from December 2024 to January 2025, a special New Year's voyage, Spring and Golden Week Cruises, and a 66-day Grand Asia Cruise in 2025.
