CCL-Carnival Cruise Line has reached a significant milestone, becoming the first cruise operator to embark more than 7 million passengers from the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA Louisiana) since commencing year-round service in 1994.

The milestone was officially marked when the Litteral family, long-time Carnival cruisers from Georgia, boarded the Carnival Valor on Monday, September 30th. Thomas and Julie Litteral, along with their children Zachary and Zoey, were greeted by Captain Antonio Modaffari and the ship’s crew, who celebrated the occasion. The family’s son, Zachary, also reached Diamond VIFP status on this voyage, joining his parents at Carnival’s highest loyalty tier.

Carnival currently operates 2 vessels from New Orleans - Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty - and sails ~400,000 passengers annually from Port NOLA.

The cruise line, which marked 30 years of service from the port in May, offers 4- to 7-day round-trip cruises to popular destinations in the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Beginning next year, Carnival Liberty will introduce voyages to Celebration Key, Carnival’s new exclusive destination on Grand Bahama Island.
