CFC cancels early 2025 cruises for €15M refurbishment of Renaissance

CFC-Compagnie Francaise de Croisieres has announced the cancellation of all cruises aboard its vessel Renaissance for a 2-month period in early 2025. Affected departures include 7- and 8-night Mediterranean cruises and a 10-night repositioning voyage in Northern Europe, all originally scheduled between January and February 2025. These cancellations are due to planned maintenance for the ship.

The Renaissance will undergo a significant dry dock from January 5th to March 1st, 2025, as part of an EUR 15 million refurbishment project. This maintenance, just 2 years after the ship's acquisition from HAL-Holland America Line, aims to modernize the vessel with new environmentally friendly technologies and upgraded onboard amenities.

A key component of the technical upgrades is the installation of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, allowing the ship to meet global environmental standards and operate in sensitive regions. Additionally, the vessel will be equipped to connect to shore power via cold ironing facilities, reinforcing CFC's commitment to sustainability.

This refurbishment will further enhance CFC's Green Marine certification, complementing previous environmental improvements such as the installation of emission purification systems (scrubbers) to lower sulfur oxide emissions and the use of silicone paint for improved hydrodynamic performance. Interior renovations will also be made, with updates planned for public spaces and cabins.

CFC is currently contacting all passengers affected by these cancellations, offering full refunds or the option to reschedule their bookings on future sailings.

Originally built by Fincantieri in 1993 with a gross tonnage of 55,575, the Renaissance is set to return to service before the summer of 2025. Starting in March, it will operate 9- to 14-night cruises to destinations in Northern Europe, including Scandinavia, the British Isles, the North Sea, and Iceland, departing from Le Havre.
