Silversea Cruises has announced the development of a 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams (Chile) the world’s southernmost city, to enhance the guest experience for Antarctic expeditions.
This new hotel, set for completion by late 2025, is designed to provide a seamless transition for travelers embarking on Silversea’s Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program. Guests will fly directly from Santiago to Puerto Williams, bypassing the Drake Passage for a quicker and more comfortable route to Antarctica.
The hotel is being constructed in partnership with Chilean investors, featuring panoramic views of the Beagle Channel and surrounding Patagonian mountains. Amenities will include a restaurant, bar, lounge, fitness center, and gift shop showcasing local craftsmanship. The architectural design will blend into the natural surroundings, drawing inspiration from local traditions and materials.
Puerto Williams, located in Chile’s sub-Antarctic Patagonia region, serves as an ideal gateway for Silversea’s luxury expeditions. As the only cruise line homeporting in Puerto Williams during the Antarctic season, Silversea provides access to the White Continent’s remote islands, towering ice formations, and diverse wildlife. The cruise line is committed to supporting the local economy while preserving the region’s cultural and environmental integrity.
With 15+ years of experience in polar exploration, Silversea offers a range of Antarctic voyages aboard its expedition ships, including the Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind, and Silver Cloud. These ships provide travelers with luxurious accommodations, personalized service, and expert-led expeditions. The Antarctica Bridge program further streamlines the journey for time-conscious travelers, allowing them to fly directly to Antarctica and start their adventure immediately, skipping the traditional sea crossing of the Drake Passage.
