The 2024-2025 cruise season officially commenced at Antigua Cruise Port with the arrival of its first ship, Celebrity Summit, on Tuesday morning, October 8th.
The port, located at Heritage Quay, welcomed passengers and crew as the season began with much anticipation for a busy and successful period. Royal Caribbean's vessel Rhapsody of the Seas followed on Wednesday, October 9th, marking the second call of the season.
The Ministry of Tourism expressed pride in the occasion, noting the significance of welcoming Celebrity Summit - the first Celebrity Cruises ship to dock for the new season. Tourists disembarked and explored the island’s culture and shopping options at the bustling Heritage Quay.
The Rhapsody of the Seas carried 2040 passengers, docking from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Antigua's local attractions. This ship is one of several scheduled to arrive in October 2024, with a steady stream of cruise liners expected to bring significant tourist traffic to the island.
Upcoming arrivals include Celebrity Summit again on October 14 with 2158 passengers, Sapphire Princess on October 19th with 2678 passengers, and the larger Regal Princess on October 20th, set to bring 3560 passengers.
The month will conclude with Sapphire Princess returning on October 31st, completing a busy and fruitful start to the cruise season at Heritage Quay.
The port’s role as a gateway to Antigua’s natural beauty and culture is once again at the forefront, as thousands of international visitors are welcomed to the island.
