Following the devastation of Hurricanes Milton and Helene, NCLH-Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has pledged a total of US$80,000 to support recovery efforts through the American Red Cross.

This includes an initial US$30,000 donation for Hurricane Helene relief and a matching contribution of up to US$50,000 for public donations toward aid for those impacted by Hurricane Milton.

Hurricane Milton, a Category 3 storm, caused widespread damage along Florida’s Gulf Coast, particularly in Tampa, Fort Myers, and Orlando, leading to severe flooding and power outages across Central Florida. This followed the earlier destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, which affected several Southern states. The Red Cross has been instrumental in providing shelter, food, and essential supplies to the affected communities, with 83,000 people seeking refuge during Milton’s landfall.

Norwegian’s support underscores its commitment to aiding recovery in the wake of these significant natural disasters.

Harry Sommer, president and CEO at NCLH said that for decades, Florida has been home to NCLH, and they feel deeply connected to this community.

“Seeing the devastation in our own backyard and neighboring states has been heartbreaking. ‘Strengthening Our Communities’ is a key pillar of our global Sail & Sustain program, and we are committed to helping those in need. Our donation to the American Red Cross is focused on providing direct relief, helping families rebuild their lives and regain a sense of stability and hope as they recover.”
