MS Wind Surf, one of the largest sailing vessels in the world and the flagship of Windstar, is preparing for the first phase of significant drydock renovations in Cadiz (Spain) this November.
The 5-masted superyacht will debut refreshed on December 21st, 2024, for the Classic Caribbean holiday cruise, followed by a New Year’s voyage departing December 28th, 2024.
Additionally, passengers can still reserve staterooms for the Wind Surf's Grand Caribbean Adventure - a 55-day itinerary grouping 28 Caribbean islands and 39 ports from January 4th to February 28th, 2025.
The multi-million-dollar refurb project will revitalize many onboard public areas with updated layouts, furnishings, wall coverings, lighting, and custom artwork, alongside enhancements to the Premium Suites. Phase 1 includes upgraded technology throughout the vessel, including interactive televisions in all guest staterooms.
Key elements of the refurbishment include:
- Lobby: The redesigned lobby will offer a more welcoming atmosphere, with additional seating options and a boutique hotel-inspired, yet nautical, aesthetic.
- Boutique: The retail area will be expanded, providing a luxury shopping experience akin to a high-end brand store.
- Bar/Lounge – Compass Rose: This space will be transformed with contemporary decor, featuring vibrant blue and orange accents, a stylish bar, and a new multi-purpose stage area for live performances.
- Dining – Amphora: The main dining room will be completely refreshed, incorporating design elements inspired by the sea, such as pearls, sea glass, and smooth stones. Curved booths will provide seating for 2-8 guests, and new, more comfortable dining chairs will enhance the experience.
- Pool Deck and Pool Bar: The pool area will maximize views of the ocean, creating a social environment for guests to enjoy, with new furniture and tropical-themed décor. The whirlpools will feature artistic tiling designed to resemble ocean waves.
Further updates include themed Broadmoor and Sea Island Suites, inspired by Windstar’s sister resorts, as well as an elevated nautical redesign of the Owner’s Suite, located directly behind the Bridge, providing a unique connection to the ship’s officers.
All staterooms will be outfitted with connected TVs, integrated with Windstar’s Wayfinder app for easy access to onboard schedules, menus, movies, and guest accounts. Phase 2 of the renovations, set for completion in December 2026, will include updates to the staterooms, as well as enhancements to dining venues and fitness facilities.
This renovation is part of a broader multi-year modernization initiative across Windstar’s entire Wind Class fleet, including Wind Star and Wind Spirit. Wind Star has completed Phase 1, with Phase 2 scheduled for April 2026, while Wind Spirit will undergo Phase 1 in April 2026, followed by Phase 2 in March 2027.
