Today, October 24th, RCI-Royal Caribbean's ship Oasis of the Seas embarks on a 14-day Transatlantic crossing from Barcelona to Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA (RepositionCruises.com), marking the vessel's transition from Europe/Mediterranean to the Caribbean.
After a summer season offering week-long itineraries throughout the Western Mediterranean, including a stop at Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Oasis of the Seas is now prepared for her journey across the Atlantic.
The vessel spent the latter part of September in drydock for scheduled maintenance and routine updates. Departing Navantia on October 21st, Oasis OTS is now en route to the USA, where she will continue operating Caribbean voyages for the coming years.
In ~5 years, the huge liner is expected to return to a European shipyard for another drydocking, given the lack of suitable facilities for large vessels in North America.
Each summer, Royal Caribbean deploys one of its Oasis-class ships to the Mediterranean. While Oasis of the Seas led the fleet in Europe this year, her sistership, Allure of the Seas, is scheduled to take her place in the Western Mediterranean next season. In spring 2025, Allure of the Seas is set to undergo enhancements as part of Royal Caribbean’s Amplification program.
