Princess Cruises announced the cancellation of a second departure scheduled for Regal Princess ship due to technical issues, although repairs are reportedly progressing on schedule.
Following the cancellation of the 27th October cruise with just 2 days’ notice, Princess informed passengers that the 3rd November voyage is also canceled.
Both sailings were to be the ship’s inaugural cruises from her new homeport Galveston (Texas USA), marking her arrival following a season in Europe.
While the precise nature of the technical issues has not been disclosed, they are thought to stem from an engine room incident during a recent transatlantic crossing, which was followed by power outages.
Crews are working to restore the vessel's full operational capabilities, with safety as a priority.
To accommodate affected passengers, Princess Cruises is providing full refunds on cruise fares and shore excursions, along with a 25% Future Cruise Credit. Given the short notice for these cancellations, compensation has been tailored to help guests reschedule their travel plans.
Princess Cruises has stated that repairs are on track, and the next scheduled departure on 10th November is expected to proceed as planned.
