HAL-Holland America Line canceled Zuiderdam’s scheduled port call in Pointe-a-Pitre on Saturday, November 2nd, citing concerns over social unrest, safety risks, and logistical complications related to shore excursions in Guadeloupe.

Originally slated as the ship’s first visit of the season, the 286-meter vessel carrying ~2500 tourists bypassed Port Pointe-a-Pitre to ensure passenger safety, particularly given the high number of elderly guests on board.

HAL highlighted risks associated with ongoing disturbances, which may lead to further blackouts, urban unrest, and disruptions to local activities and transportation.

Prioritizing security and logistical integrity, HAL opted to reroute rather than risk passenger welfare amidst the current conditions.
