   November 5, 2024 ,   Accidents

A crew member in need of urgent medical care was successfully medevacked from the Celebrity Edge ship as it sailed off the coast of New South Wales, Australia (to the southeast of Eden NSW).

Responding swiftly to the request, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) coordinated an efficient medical evacuation to transport the crew member to a land-based medical facility.

AMSA enlisted the Toll Ambulance Rescue helicopter from Wollongong, which utilized a winch to lift the patient safely from the vessel. An additional rescue aircraft from Essendon supported the operation, ensuring a smooth and secure transfer. After being airlifted, the crew member was transported to a hospital in Bega, New South Wales, for further treatment.

Passengers and crew onboard expressed their appreciation for the professionalism and rapid response of the medical teams. Warm wishes are extended to the crew member for a full recovery and a prompt return to the ship.
