On Sunday, November 10th, the crew of Disney Treasure ship responded to a distress call and successfully rescued 4 sailors stranded in the Atlantic Ocean.
Positioned southwest of Bermuda, the catamaran Serenity had begun to take on water, prompting its skipper to issue a distress alert to the USCG/Coast Guard. As the nearest vessel, Disney Treasure adjusted course immediately, upholding its crew’s commitment to international maritime safety.
Upon receiving the distress call, Disney Treasure accelerated and navigated toward the location of the sailors in distress. The crew launched a rescue boat, which was able to bring the four sailors safely aboard from the sinking catamaran.
Captain Marco Nogara expressed satisfaction with the operation, noting that the crew’s professionalism and training were instrumental in ensuring a swift and successful rescue.
Recently delivered to DCL-Disney Cruise Line by Meyer Werft in Papenburg (Germany), Disney Treasure began her maiden Atlantic voyage on October 29th. After a bunkering call in Funchal (Madeira), she is expected to reach Port Canaveral (Florida) - her designated homeport - on November 12th.
