MSC Cruises has commenced its 2024-2025 cruise season in Brazil with the arrival of MSC Seaview ship in homeport Santos on November 10th. Following its Transatlantic crossing (RepositionCruises.com), the 2018-built vessel initiated the season's first Brazilian voyage, signifying the commencement of MSC's extensive operations in the region.
The inaugural event aboard MSC Seaview was attended by Adrian Ursilli (MSC's Brazil Country Manager), along with ship officers, government representatives, travel agents, and members of the press. Ursilli emphasized the season's economic significance and MSC's dedication to the Brazilian market, noting the company's focus on growth and expanding its presence within the country.
For the 2024-2025 season, MSC intends to deploy five ships across 6 Brazilian homeports, offering a total of 126 cruises through late April. Additionally, the ships MSC Poesia and MSC Magnifica will include Brazil in their longer itineraries, including MSC's World Voyage 2025.
Silvio Costa Filho, Brazil's Minister of Ports and Airports, recognized MSC Cruises' contribution to promoting Brazil as a premier cruise destination. He indicated expectations of 800,000+ unique passengers for the season, with goals to exceed 1 million in the coming years, supported by government agencies.
In Santos, Brazil's largest cruise homeport, officials project a record season with 14 ships scheduled to make 152 port calls, facilitating 1+ million passenger transits. Beto Mendes, Director of Operations at the Port of Santos, recognized the season's launch, while Captain Marcos Andre Souza of the Brazilian Navy assured continued support to maintain safety and operational success.
MSC Seaview began her first cruise of the season with a 3-night itinerary organized by PromoAcao, which included stops in Buzios and a day at sea. The season, MSC Seaview will offer 3- to 8-night roundtrips from Santos.
Other vessels, including MSC Grandiosa , MSC Orchestra , MSC Armonia , and MSC Splendida , will operate additional routes from Santos, Salvador , Maceio , Rio de Janeiro , Paranagua , and Itajai .
Enhancing Brazil's cruise season, MSC's fleet will be complemented by 3 Costa Cruises vessels, thereby broadening the region's international cruise offerings and reinforcing Brazil's status as a leading global cruise destination.
