Hamburger Hafen/Port Hamburg (Germany) is preparing for a busy 2025 cruise season, with Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH) projecting 294 ship calls, an increase from 268 in 2024. These calls will include 45 ships and 21 cruise lines, reflecting the growing significance of passenger shipping in Hamburg’s maritime landscape.
Among the scheduled arrivals, 3 inaugural calls stand out: Star Pride from Windstar Cruises, Emerald Princess from Princess Cruises, and Pacific World from Japan Grace.
In addition to ocean-going ships, the season will feature 39 river cruise ship calls, further diversifying the port’s offerings.
A major development for 2025 is the completion of the new cruise terminal in HafenCity. Designed to enhance passenger experience, this facility will provide seamless connectivity to Hamburg’s city center via its dedicated underground transport link. Spanning 10,000 square meters, the terminal will include:
- Two underground levels for buses and taxis
- Two berths equipped with shore power connections
- Dedicated passenger handling facilities.
These features are expected to streamline passenger movements and elevate Hamburg’s position as a leading cruise destination.
The cruise sector continues to be a vital economic driver for Hamburg. With an estimated 4490 service sector jobs and a contribution of EUR 419.7 million in gross value added, the industry strengthens the city’s economy and tourism appeal.
Hamburg also benefits from hosting major maritime events, such as:
- The 836th Hamburg Port Anniversary (May 9th-11th, 2025), which will feature 7 cruise ships.
- The 10th edition of Hamburg Cruise Days (September 12th-14th, 2025), showcasing 10 cruise ships and drawing international attention through elaborate maritime displays.
To bolster Hamburg’s profile as a cruise hub, CGH will attend major industry events, including Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami (April 2025) and Seatrade Europe in Hamburg, reinforcing the city’s reputation on the global stage.
