Antigua Cruise Port is poised for what officials project could be a record-setting homeporting season, marking significant growth since the port began hosting homeporting vessels 2 years ago. Over this period, passenger numbers have surged by 150%, reflecting the island's increasing appeal as a homeporting destination in the region.
This year, P&O Cruises' Arvia joins Antigua's homeporting lineup, expected to bring 19,000+ passengers to St. John’s. Additionally, the luxury vessel SeaDream II has commenced her 3rd consecutive season of homeporting operations at the port, reinforcing Antigua’s growing reputation in the industry.
Antigua Cruise Port's General Manager, Gasper George, emphasized the notable strides made in positioning the island as a premier homeporting hub in the Caribbean. Officials also highlighted the positive economic impact of these operations.
Antigua and Barbuda's Tourism Minister, Charles Fernandez, noted that homeporting activities play a critical role in driving economic growth by supporting local businesses and creating job opportunities for residents.
With new vessels and returning operators, Antigua's cruise port continues to solidify its status as a strategic player in the regional cruise market.
