RCI-Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships, including Symphony of the Seas, are currently unable to dock in San Juan (Puerto Rico) due to ongoing technical issues with the pier.
According to the port authority, the facility requires maintenance and clearance by the USCG/Coast Guard before it can accommodate vessels of this size.
RCI began adjusting itineraries earlier this month and informed guests of further changes in a notification sent to those booked on Symphony OTS' December 1st sailing. The communication explained that, due to the technical issue, the cruise would bypass San Juan and Philipsburg (St Maarten), substituting alternative destinations.
To provide guests with an optimal experience, the revised itinerary includes stops at Labadee (Haiti) and Falmouth (Jamaica). The cruise line expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the changes.
The original schedule included stops at CocoCay Bahamas, San Juan, and St Maarten before concluding with 2 sea days.
The homeported in Miami (Florida USA) Symphony OTS operates 7-night Caribbean roundtrips.
RCI continues to monitor the situation in San Juan and has pledged to update passengers regarding future developments.
