Mitsui OSK Lines/MOL Group announced the official launch of its newest cruise ship Mitsui Ocean Fuji, which began revenue operations for the company on Sunday, December 1st.
Operated by the subsidiary MOL Cruises Ltd, Mitsui Ocean Fuji distinguishes itself as Japan's first cruiser with exclusively suite-type staterooms.
The inaugural season includes five "Debut Cruise" packages and a special New Year's voyage, running through January 2025. The itineraries leave from the major Japanese homeports Yokohama, Kobe, and Nagoya, and visit scenic destinations such as Beppu, Shimonoseki, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, and other picturesque ports across Japan.
The ship’s launch aligns with MOL Group’s BLUE ACTION 2035 strategic management plan, which emphasizes diversifying into non-shipping sectors to stabilize profitability amid market volatility. As part of this initiative, MOL Cruises (thought its new brand Mitsui Ocean Cruises) is set to expand its fleet, with additional vessels planned to enhance MOL's portfolio and elevate its corporate value.
Two dedicated websites have been launched to support the Mitsui Ocean Fuji. These platforms provide comprehensive details on cruise schedules, accommodations, dining options, onboard amenities, and frequently asked questions, ensuring passengers have seamless access to information.
Mitsui Ocean Fuji is positioned as a key step in MOL Group's vision to offer refined maritime experiences while fostering sustainable growth within its cruise segment.
