Fincantieri has announced the delivery of the Viking Vela, marking the 13th vessel constructed for Viking as part of their enduring partnership. The handover ceremony occurred at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard on Tuesday, December 3rd.

Viking Vela is a small-sized vessel with a volume/gross tonnage of ~54,300 GT-tons, and max capacity 998 passengers (499 passenger staterooms). It represents a modified disign, allowing bigger capacity (compared to the previously launched sisterships with max 930 guests) and updated amenities.

As the first in a new series of vessels for Viking OCEAN, Viking Vela underscores the brand's focus on innovation and environmental stewardship. Built in compliance with the latest maritime environmental regulations, the vessel is equipped with advanced engines and exhaust systems aimed at reducing emissions, meeting the highest industry standards for sustainability.

This delivery also highlights the deepening collaboration between Fincantieri and Viking Group, a partnership that now includes 26 ships, with additional orders and contracts reinforcing their relationship. The Viking Vela joins a fleet that includes two expedition ships built by Fincantieri’s subsidiary VARD.

Fincantieri expressed its commitment to the continued success of this partnership, noting the shared goal of delivering innovative and environmentally advanced vessels to meet the demands of modern cruise travel.
