Paul Gauguin Cruises (aka "PG Cruises", Ponant-owned brand) announced a major 7-week drydock refurbishment for MS Paul Gauguin, to be conducted in Singapore.

The multi-million-dollar project integrates modernized design, enhanced sustainability measures, and reimagined public and guest spaces, aligning with the brand's ethos of authentic discovery in French Polynesia. The design, led by Stirling International, emphasizes a seamless blend of natural light, tropical aesthetics, and warm wood finishes across the ship.

Refurbishment's highlights include:

  • Connecting Staterooms: 8 new connecting staterooms on Deck 7 cater to multi-generational travelers. As the sole year-round cruise ship in French Polynesia, the Gauguin will continue offering a complimentary program for children aged 6 to 15 on select voyages.
  • Le Grill: The indoor-outdoor poolside dining venue will receive a sophisticated transformation, featuring white wood finishes, oak furnishings, ceramic accents, and bamboo light fixtures. Floor-to-ceiling windows will enhance views of the islands.
  • Pool Deck and Bar: The pool deck will be upgraded with a new teak surface, a mosaic-wrapped pool facade, and a sweeping white canopy for shaded relaxation. The Pool Bar will mirror Le Grill’s carved white wood screens, with subtle lighting for ambiance.
  • Soft Enhancements: Public spaces and staterooms will showcase refreshed tropical-inspired color palettes, reupholstered furnishings, new carpeting, and woodwork restorations.
  • Sustainability Upgrades: Cutting-edge systems will enhance the ship’s environmental profile, including energy-efficient chillers, heat recovery systems, and the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system for onboard electricity generation. A seawater treatment plant will produce fresh water, and the Nordaq system will eliminate single-use plastic bottles. Waste management will also be bolstered with glass crushers and compactors.

MS Paul Gauguin will restart revenue operations in late March 2025 with two relocation itineraries (RepositionCruises.com):

  • 14-night Immersive Indonesia: Singapore to Australia (departing April 1st, 2025).
  • 16-night Crossing Melanesia: Australia to Fiji (departing April 15th, 2025).

The vessel will then return to its homeport Papeete Tahiti, resuming its hallmark all-inclusive luxury voyages across the Society Islands, Tuamotus, Cook Islands, and Marquesas, offering itineraries ranging from 7 to 14 nights.
