The Serbian shipbuilder Vahali Shipyards Zasavica (Sremska Mitrovica) launched the Spirit of the Moselle. The new riverboat was commissioned by the Switzerland-based shipowner Rijfers Nautical Management and to be chartered to SAGA Cruises UK.
Spirit of the Moselle is a sistership to the Spirit of the Rhine (2021-built) and is designed to provide premium cruising experiences on Europe’s largest rivers.
The Moselle boat measures 135 m (443 ft) in length, with an 11.4-meter (37-ft) beam/width, a volume/gross tonnage of 3600 GT-tons, and a service speed of 12 knots/22 km/h / 14 mph.
The ship will accommodate 182 guests (served by 40 crew/staff) in 91 staterooms including 17 m2 (183 ft2) cabins with French balconies and 14 m2 (151 ft2) cabins with fixed/non-opening porthole windows.
All passenger cabins feature en suite bathrooms, walk-in showers, queen-size beds, individual climate controls, and a seating area with chairs and a coffee table.
The Spirit of the Moselle will offer a range of upscale amenities, including:
- A bar and both indoor and al fresco dining venues.
- An atrium, gym, library, retail shop, and indoor and outdoor terraces.
- Panoramic lounges with floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted views.
- A sundeck featuring a play area and a whirlpool tub.
- A multi-functional lounge that can serve as a cinema, lecture hall, or music salon.
The ship design emphasizes spacious, light-filled interiors to enhance the guest experience while navigating Europe’s scenic waterways.
Spirit of the Moselle is scheduled for delivery in July 2025, further expanding SAGA UK’s fleet of luxury boats.
