The Carnival Corporation's private Bahamian island resort Half Moon Cay will undergo a transformation and rebranding as “RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay.” This change reflects the upcoming enhancements designed to elevate the guest experience while preserving the island's natural charm.
The Corporation's subsidiaries and travel brands HAL-Holland America Line and CCL-Carnival Cruise Line jointly announced the renaming and outlined the collaborative plans to enhance the island’s appeal. Key improvements include an expanded beachfront experience, new dining options, various bars, and upgraded facilities to better integrate with the destination’s tropical environment.
A significant addition will be a newly constructed pier on the north side of the island. This development will accommodate larger vessels, including CCL’s Excel-class liners, enabling these vessels to dock and welcome guests directly ashore for the first time.
Upon arrival, guests will encounter distinct welcome plazas on both the north and south sides of the island, which together span more than a mile of white-sand beaches. The south side, which houses the existing development, will feature updates with a Bahamian-inspired aesthetic, a new beach club, an enhanced lunch venue, and refreshed amenities.
The north side, meanwhile, will introduce newly developed facilities, including two dining venues, island-themed bars, and expanded lounging areas. A new tram service will provide convenient access across the island, connecting guests to key features such as the shore excursion pier, recreational hubs, and additional cabanas.
The enhancements are being designed with sustainability and natural preservation in mind, incorporating architecture that complements the island’s authentic beauty.
The phased upgrades are expected to be completed between the summer and late 2026, with further details to be announced in the coming months.
