In an accident in Port Nassau (Bahamas), a luxury superyacht (My Aurora/MMSI number 319113700) inadvertently collided with RCI-Royal Caribbean's OASIS-class ship Allure of the Seas while the cruiser was docked on Wednesday, December 11th.
The collision/allision occurred after the yacht reportedly lost power, rendering it unable to steer and causing it to drift toward Allure's port side, ultimately striking one of the ship's lifeboats.
Allure OTS sustained only minor damage. However, the yacht suffered significant impacts, including damage to its communications equipment, with several components falling into the water.
A video capturing the event shows a cruise passenger asking individuals on the yacht if they were unharmed.
At this time, no injuries have been reported, and the identities of those on the smaller vessel remain undisclosed.
At the time of the incident, Allure OTS was on a 4-day roundtrip from Miami. Following a delay of ~1 hour, the ship resumed its planned itinerary and is expected to return to PortMiami as scheduled on December 13th.
Royal Caribbean has indicated that the damage sustained by the ship was minor and has not impacted its seaworthiness.
