P&O Cruises UK issues update on Ventura ship's Norovirus outbreak

   December 14, 2024 ,   Accidents

P&O Cruises has provided an update regarding a recent illness outbreak on MS Ventura.

Passengers were previously advised to avoid large gatherings after reports of the sickness on December 4th.

The outbreak, suspected to be gastroenteritis, is characterized by symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort.

In response, P&O has emphasized that thorough cleaning protocols, approved by global and regional public health authorities, remain in effect aboard the vessel.

A company spokesperson indicated that these precautionary measures are being implemented with an abundance of caution to ensure passenger and crew safety.

This incident follows a series of outbreaks earlier in the year, during which 1,000+ cases of norovirus were reported across 11 separate voyages.
