56-yo passenger medevaced from RCI-Royal Caribbean's ship Grandeur OTS

On Saturday, December 14th, a United States Coast Guard crew from Air Station Miami successfully carried out a medical evacuation of a 56-year-old man from the Grandeur of the Seas ship from the RCI-Royal Caribbean's fleet.

The vessel was located ~40 miles (64 km) southeast of PortMiami (Florida USA) at the time of the operation.

The man, who was reported to be experiencing severe abdominal pain, was airlifted to Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. According to the Coast Guard, he was transported in stable condition.

Footage released later in the day captures the early morning helicopter evacuation, showcasing the precision and coordination of the rescue effort.

At the time of the accident, the ship was on a 9-day, round-trip Southern Caribbean roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades, Florida). The itinerary started on December 13th and ends on December 22nd.
