Costa Fascinosa assists stranded yacht during Transatlantic cruise

   December 17, 2024 ,   Accidents

During the Transatlantic crossing from Europe to the Caribbean, the Costa Fascinosa ship provided critical assistance to a stranded sailing yacht that had run out of fuel.

On December 14th, 2024, the Costa Fascinosa received a distress call from the Canadian-flagged vessel while en route to the Caribbean Islands.

At ~5:00 p.m., Fascinosa’s captain made the decision to alter course southward to provide assistance. After a 3-hour diversion, the ship reached the yacht. A lifeboat was deployed to deliver fuel, enabling the sailing vessel to continue its voyage.

By 9:00 p.m., Fascinosa resumed the planned route toward Barbados.

Costa Fascinosa left from Savona (Italy) on December 5th for a 14-day Transatlantic voyage (RepositionCruises.com) and is scheduled to arrive in Pointe-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe) on December 19th.
