Cruise Saudi (a fully owned asset of Saudi Arabia's PIF/Public Investment Fund) tasked with establishing the country as a key cruise travel destination, initiated the soft launch of Saba Beach on Jabal Al-Sabaya Island.
This private island is in the Red Sea, located ~220 nautical miles (~410 km/~250 mi) to the west of Jeddah.
Jabal Al-Sabaya is exclusively accessible to cruise ship tourists, offering a unique blend of luxury, local cultural heritage, and the natural beauty of Saudi Arabia's coastline.
The island welcomed its first visitors on December 21st, 2024, as part of its initial operational phase.
Upon completion of its first development phase, Saba Beach will offer:
- a floating park.
- a full-service restaurant.
- retail outlets.
- a VIP beach and VVIP beachfront villas.
- a spa and shisha lounge.
- a variety of land and water-based recreational activities, including snorkeling excursions.
Visitors can relax in beachside cabanas or explore the pristine waters of the Red Sea, experiencing a curated blend of leisure and adventure.
The design and construction of Jabal AlSabaya emphasize harmony with the natural environment and reflect Saudi cultural heritage. Architectural elements are influenced by the Aseer and Hijaz regions, Roshan coastal designs, and traditional patterns such as Sadu and AlKhous.
Sustainability has been a core principle of the island's development. Construction practices minimized environmental impact, utilizing local materials, traditional craftsmanship, and off-site prefabrication. Measures were also implemented to protect the surrounding marine and terrestrial ecosystems, ensuring the project aligns with Cruise Saudi's long-term vision for responsible tourism.
