MJM Marine has announced the completion of a groundbreaking project for Aroya Cruises, marked by the official launch of the vessel from its homeport in Jeddah earlier this week. The initiative represents the largest refurbishment project in the history of the marine cruise outfitting industry.
The extensive conversion transformed the former World Dream into Aroya, the flagship vessel for the Aroya Cruise brand. With a blend of exceptional culinary offerings, vibrant entertainment spaces, and culturally immersive designs, Aroya establishes a new standard for luxury and innovation in cruising. MJM Marine was contracted to upgrade all cabins, construct new suites, and develop luxurious dining areas along with advanced entertainment facilities. The refit also introduced the largest retail and children’s venues at sea, ensuring an unparalleled guest experience aboard the vessel.
The project encompassed every stage of the refurbishment process, beginning with surveys and design development in Singapore, proceeding to onboard work during drydocking in Rotterdam, and culminating with final preparations in Bremerhaven before the vessel sailed to Jeddah to enter service.
Gary Annett, CEO of MJM Marine, reflected on the achievement, emphasizing the company’s commitment to excellence in cruise outfitting. He noted that close collaboration with Aroya Cruises, stakeholders, and trusted partners was key to realizing the client’s vision of “Remarkably Arabian.” The project not only highlights MJM Marine’s expertise but also signifies the emergence of a new sector within the cruise industry.
Aroya is set to captivate global audiences with its seamless integration of Arabian elegance and modern functionality. Designed as a cultural crossroads, the vessel offers a cruise experience that celebrates the richness of diverse guest preferences while setting a new benchmark for the industry.
