Oasis-class Royal Caribbean ship Symphony OTS unable to dock in San Juan (Puerto Rico)

RCI-Royal Caribbean has experienced difficulties docking the Symphony of the Seas in San Juan (Puerto Rico) due to ongoing repairs at the port's dock that accommodates Oasis-class vessels. Since April, the pier has been unavailable, and its resumption of operations requires approval from the U.S. Coast Guard.

According to Capt. Luis J. Rodriguez, commander of USCG Sector San Juan, San Juan's Pier 3 West is designed to receive the largest cruise ships in the world. However, following the damage to the facility's mooring structure, Coast Guard Prevention personnel have been collaborating with the San Juan Cruise Port and the Puerto Rico Ports Authority to assess the structural integrity for cruise ship operations.

As a result, Royal Caribbean has had to cancel its planned stops in San Juan, specifically the calls scheduled for December 28th and January 12th, which the company communicated to passengers via email.

“We wanted to inform you about some changes to your upcoming cruise. Due to ongoing construction at the pier in San Juan, the port authority has advised us that the port will not be ready in time for our visit. We understand how important each destination is to your vacation, so we have worked diligently to find the best alternatives for you."
