The Government of Jersey (UK) has formalized a 20-year agreement with DFDS Ferries to manage the Island’s ferry connections to the UK and France, starting on March 28th, 2025.
This long-term contract ensures DFDS will deliver both passenger and freight services on routes linking Jersey with Poole and Portsmouth in the UK, as well as Saint-Malo in France.
DFDS has pledged several enhancements to the ferry service, including:
- Increased frequency of sailings to the UK and France during peak travel periods.
- Introduction of faster ferries for the UK routes.
- Investment in 3 new ferries to be deployed by 2032.
- Provision of 2 dedicated high-speed ferries for summer operations.
The Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, expressed optimism about the agreement, highlighting that the partnership with DFDS would ensure superior ferry services for the Island’s residents over the next two decades.
