AIDA Cruises has appointed Mr. Chen Ranfeng as its Chief Executive Officer, entrusting him with the leadership of the company’s operations and strategic direction. In this capacity, Mr. Chen will guide AIDA in navigating industry challenges, seizing emerging opportunities, and fostering innovation to reinforce its position in the global market. His vision aligns with establishing AIDA as a benchmark for a “Chinese model” within the international cruise sector.

As a founding member of the company, Mr. Chen has been instrumental in shaping the company’s development from its inception. He played a critical role in assembling a skilled team, implementing robust operational systems, and overcoming significant hurdles. Notably, under his stewardship, AIDA achieved two major milestones: the launch of AIDA MODU (Adora Magic City), China’s first domestically-operated large cruise ship, and AIDA MEDITERRANEAN (Adora Mediterranea), a vessel celebrated for its artistic design.

Since July 1st, 2024, when he assumed the role of senior advisor to the board, Mr. Chen has offered strategic oversight, leveraging his deep expertise to support the company’s long-term growth. His leadership has been further bolstered by the recent announcement of increased investment in AIDA Cruises by China International Cruise Co., Ltd., in partnership with CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd. Following this capital infusion, China International Cruise holds a 65% stake in AIDA Cruises, while CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd. retains 35%. This partnership is set to enhance the structural efficiency of the Chinese cruise industry and propel its high-quality development.

Despite changes in ownership, AIDA will continue as an independent brand. Looking ahead, the company is poised to expand its fleet, refine vessel deployment, enhance guest experiences, and solidify its status as a leading Chinese cruise operator with comprehensive capabilities. These efforts are in line with China’s strategic goal of becoming a global cruise industry leader.

Currently, AIDA Cruises operates two flagship vessels: AIDA MAGIC CITY, China’s first domestically-built large cruise ship, and the visually stunning AIDA MEDITERRANEAN. Together, these vessels have welcomed ~500,000 guests, both domestic and international. Meanwhile, construction of AIDA FLOWER CITY (Adora Flora City), China’s second large cruise ship, is nearing completion, with delivery anticipated by the end of 2026. Once operational, this vessel will focus on international routes originating from Nansha-Guangzhou, further enhancing China’s footprint in the global cruise market.
