Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ vessel Bolette, is set to feature on Channel 5 (British free-to-air public broadcast TV channel) later this month as presenter Susan Calman embarks on a 8-night Norwegian Fjords voyage in her series, Cruise of a Lifetime.

Susan began the roundtrip cruise from Liverpool, visiting the Norwegian ports Olden, Alesund, Andalsnes, and Geiranger. The itinerary featured scenic sailings along Nordfjord and Geirangerfjord, as well as passing the Seven Sisters Waterfall located along the Geirangerfjorden.

During her exploration of Norway, Susan embraced the concept of friluftsliv - a Norwegian term for enjoying the outdoors. She visited Briksdal Glacier from Olden, kayaked along Alesund’s Brosundet canal, and overcame her fear of heights to take in panoramic views via the Loen Skylift and Romsdalen Gondola. Susan also experienced the historic Rauma Line, often referred to as the Golden Train, traveling between Andalsnes and Bjorli on one of Europe’s most scenic railways.

Onboard MS Bolette, Susan explored the inner workings of the ship, joining guests for a behind-the-scenes tour of essential areas such as the food stores, laundry, and galley, where she met with crew members. She participated in formal night festivities and took time to enjoy the spa facilities.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ CEO, Samantha Stimpson, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming broadcast, describing it as a unique opportunity to showcase the vessel and its distinctive Norwegian itineraries. Stimpson noted that the ship’s smaller size allows it to navigate deeper into the fjordlands, accessing areas that are inaccessible to larger vessels. She also thanked Susan for engaging with both guests and crew during the voyage, highlighting the cruise line’s strong ties to Norway and its reputation for offering exceptional experiences in this region.

The program will provide viewers with a glimpse of the breathtaking scenery and the personalized service Fred. Olsen is known for, extending the experience beyond those who were aboard the ship.
