A passenger aboard the MSC Orchestra tragically passed away on January 9th due to a sudden illness during a corporate charter cruise organized by MAG Seguros.

The vessel departed from Rio de Janeiro the evening prior, hosting an event to commemorate the 190th anniversary of MAG Seguros, a company specializing in life insurance and pension funds.

Despite immediate intervention by the ship’s medical team, efforts to save the passenger, a representative of the hosting organization, were unsuccessful. In response to the incident, the ship’s planned celebrations were canceled, and the Orchestra promptly returned to Rio de Janeiro later that afternoon.

The MAG Group conveyed their condolences, expressing profound sorrow and offering support to the family and colleagues of the deceased.

"It is with great sadness that the MAG Group confirms the death of one of its employees during a celebratory cruise. The employee suffered a sudden illness and was treated immediately by the medical team present, but unfortunately did not survive. Our commitment to people and respect for life are intrinsic to the values of this company, and for this reason the planned festivities have been canceled. We deeply regret what happened, and we will continue to show our solidarity and offer full support to the family, friends, partners and other employees of our group."
