DCL-Disney Cruise Line has outlined plans for a significant fleet expansion, announcing the addition of 4 ships between 2027 and 2031.
The expansion includes 3 vessels forming a new ship class and one ship joining the existing/newest WISH class.
The new ship class, to be constructed by Meyer Werft in Papenburg Germany, will be designed to accommodate 3000 passengers and measure ~100,000 GT-tons (volume). These units will be 20% larger than the MAGIC-class but smaller than the DREAM and WISH classes, allowing access to a broader range of global ports.
Deliveries are scheduled for 2029, 2030, and 2031.
Environmental sustainability is a cornerstone of the new class's design. The ships will incorporate streamlined hulls, advanced power and propulsion systems, and energy-efficient operational features. They will also include battery systems to support their engines and shore power technology for use during port stays. Capable of running on alternative fuels such as hydrotreated vegetable oil and renewable methanol, the ships will remain adaptable to future fuel innovations.
Additionally, a new WISH class vessel is slated for delivery in 2027. Like the sisterships Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny, it will have volume ~144,000 GT, passenger capacity 4,000 , and be LNG-powered.
Walt Disney Imagineering will oversee the design of all 4 ships.
While details about the vessels’ names, onboard experiences, itineraries, and specific designs remain under development, the expansion aligns with The Walt Disney Company's 2030 environmental goals and reinforces DCL's mission to deliver its signature entertainment, dining, and service to a growing global audience.
