Princess Cruises marked a historic moment in Sydney Harbour (NSW Australia) when the ships Crown Princess and Diamond Princess met for the first time on Saturday, January 11th.
Crown Princess' Captain Mario Cosentino expressed his pleasure at the occasion, noting the significance of both ships being in Sydney simultaneously and the personal milestone of reuniting with Diamond Princess' Captain Michele Bartolomei after nearly a decade.
According to Tierna Maguire, a guide with Sydney Kayak Experience, the presence of the two ships at sunrise added a unique element to her guests’ tours, enhancing their experience of the iconic harbor.
Crown Princess is poised to make a substantial economic impact this season, contributing A$120+ million to the national economy. The ship will make 78 visits to 21 Australian ports - a record for any vessel in the Princess fleet. During her port call in Sydney, Crown Princess also supported local agriculture by taking on 140 tonnes of fresh produce sourced from Australian farmers.
Diamond Princess, homeported in Melbourne and Brisbane for the 2024–2025 season, is scheduled to make 4 visits to Sydney before departing for Japan in March, where she will serve the Japanese summer market.
