Silversea has commenced its 2025 World Cruise, Controtempo, which spans 59 destinations across 30 countries. The cruise, aboard the Muse-Class vessel Silver Dawn, departed from Tokyo on January 13th, 2025, and is set to conclude in New York on May 29th, 2025.
The itinerary emphasizes exploration during unconventional seasons, blending iconic cities with lesser-known destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. Silversea’s vision for Controtempo is to offer an offbeat perspective, emphasizing local immersion and authentic experiences for even the most seasoned travelers. This voyage marks the first instance of a Muse-Class ship undertaking a World Cruise, bringing features like the S.A.L.T. culinary program and the Otium spa concept to the journey.
The voyage is divided into nine segments, including visits to major destinations like Tokyo and Paris and lesser-traveled locations, 19 of which are new to a Silversea World Cruise. Guests were greeted in Tokyo with a seamless onboarding experience, highlighted by a bon voyage lunch at Happo-en, featuring Japanese culinary traditions and performances by the Hiroshima Junior Marimba Ensemble.
Guests will participate in exclusive events that provide a deeper connection to each destination. These include:
- A traditional Washoku lunch in Tokyo, paired with a sake ceremony and music.
- A culinary evening in Hoi An, Vietnam, beginning with a river cruise and culminating in a meal showcasing local gastronomy.
- A private dining experience atop Singapore’s Sky Park Observation Deck.
- A desert feast in Namibia, accompanied by local music, fire performances, and South African wines.
- A private gala at Versailles, offering rare access to the palace for an evening of dance and dining.
- A photographic and culinary event in Stockholm, celebrating Swedish culture and music.
- A farewell concert at Boston Symphony Hall, capturing the essence of the journey through music.
