The UK-based Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has introduced a unique initiative by enlisting 3 renowned individuals to serve as "documentarians" aboard select voyages, capturing guests' experiences through art, writing, and photography.

The program, called the ‘Moments Crew,’ features comedian-turned-artist Jim Moir (also known as Vic Reeves), who will join an 8-night Norwegian Fjords sailing on May 28th, 2025. Moir will paint scenes chosen by guests, preserving the voyage's most striking landscapes on canvas. Prices for this cruise begin at GBP 1,119 per person, based on two sharing an interior cabin.

Author and comedian Jenny Eclair will accompany a 13-night Baltic cruise departing June 27th, 2025. She aims to inspire guests to document their journeys by crafting short stories based on memorable experiences. Fares for this itinerary start at GBP 1,969 per person for two sharing an interior cabin.

Celebrity photographer Scarlet Page will bring her expertise to the 13-night ‘Volcanic Vistas of Azores & Madeira’ sailing on July 25th, 2025. Page will capture candid images that reflect the joy and wonder of the journey. Prices start from GBP 1,859 per person for two sharing an interior cabin.

Guests on these sailings can participate in a ballot to book exclusive sessions with the Moments Crew, where they can request personalized artistic, literary, or photographic keepsakes. Bookings are available online.

Sonia Holman, Fred Olsen’s marketing director, explained the inspiration behind the program, stating that the sea has always been a source of cherished memories. She emphasized the company’s excitement in offering passengers this distinctive opportunity to preserve those moments through the talents of the Moments Crew.

Jim Moir expressed enthusiasm for combining his love of travel and painting, sharing his anticipation of capturing dramatic landscapes, waterfalls, and local wildlife like puffins. Jenny Eclair highlighted the enduring power of travel writing and encouraged guests to create their own written records, emphasizing how words can capture emotions that photos alone cannot. Scarlet Page shared her passion for photographing candid moments, aiming to create visual mementos that reflect the authentic emotions and connections of the voyage.

This initiative marks a creative departure for Fred Olsen, offering guests a memorable way to preserve their adventures on the high seas.
