The Port of Sans Souci in the Dominican Republic is set to receive the Ambience, a cruise ship operated by British company Ambassador Cruise Line, during her inaugural visit on January 25th, 2025. According to the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), the vessel, with a capacity for 1,400 passengers, will dock from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jean Luis Rodriguez, executive director of APORDOM, noted the increasing success of the country’s ports, particularly in Puerto Plata, La Romana, and Cabo Rojo. The Cabo Rojo port, equipped to handle Oasis-class vessels - the largest cruise ships globally - is positioning itself as a key tourist hub in the south. Rodriguez also highlighted the National Plan for Rehabilitation, Refurbishment, and Construction of Tourist and Fishing Docks as a strategic initiative to enhance the Dominican Republic's tourism infrastructure, bolster the economy, and establish the nation as a leading cruise tourism destination in the region.
January 2025 will see heightened cruise activity across multiple Dominican ports, including Taino Bay, Amber Cove, Sans Souci, Catalina Island Anchorage, and the West Pier. These arrivals will bring an influx of foreign visitors, boosting local commerce and tourism. The month’s schedule features prominent vessels such as MSC Seaside, Carnival Mardi Gras, Celebrity Apex, Norwegian Prima, and Independence of the Seas.
While the calendar provides an overview of expected calls, weather conditions or route adjustments may influence the final itinerary.
