NCLH-Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has commenced construction on a new cruise pier at Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, marking a significant step in its operational and strategic plans. The US$150 million project, slated for completion by late 2025, will accommodate 2 large vessels simultaneously, improving guest access to the private island for NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and RSSC-Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

This development supports NCLH’s broader strategy to enhance its private island offerings while preparing for the arrival of its next-generation fleet, currently under construction at Fincantieri in Italy.

In addition to the pier, NCLH plans to upgrade the island’s infrastructure to align with its long-term growth objectives, which include optimizing operations and reducing financial leverage.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Bahamian Prime Minister Philip Davis, Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, and NCLH executives, including CEO Harry Sommer and Norwegian Cruise Line President David Herrera. Local officials and stakeholders were also present to recognize the project’s regional importance.

NCLH described the pier as a "transformational investment" for both the Bahamas and its cruise shipping operations.

Further underscoring its commitment to the region, the company announced plans to invest US$45,000+ in 2025 to support education in the Bahamas, funding scholarships, internships, and facility improvements.
