Ferry services between Isle of Wight and Southampton UK suspended due to Storm Herminia

Ferry shipping between the Isle of Wight and Southampton England are suspended indefinitely as Storm Herminia impacts the region.

The company Red Funnel confirmed the cancellation of both car and foot passenger ferry services due to adverse weather conditions. The company has issued an apology to passengers for the disruption caused to their travel plans.

Storm Herminia brought high winds and widespread power outages across the southwest of England as it approached the UK on Sunday, January 26th.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for wind and rain, with conditions further exacerbated by Storm Eowyn earlier in the week. Described as "probably the strongest storm" to hit the UK in a decade, Storm Eowyn produced wind speeds exceeding 100 mph (160 km/h).

These cancellations come amid ongoing disruptions to Red Funnel's fast vessel service, which had already been adjusted prior to the arrival of Storm Herminia. Mariners and passengers are advised to monitor updates from Red Funnel and the Met Office as conditions evolve.
