Silversea's ship Silver Ray starts inaugural 71-day World Cruise around South America

Silver Ray, the newest addition to the Silversea fleet, set sail on January 20th, 2024, marking the commencement of her inaugural Grand Voyage - a 71-day journey circumnavigating South America. This extensive voyage will see the ship visit 38 destinations across 17 countries, offering passengers a mix of iconic and remote locations.

The voyage will pass through the Panama Canal and explore a diverse range of South American highlights, including cities like Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and Lima/Calao, as well as natural wonders like Chile’s Fjords and the Amazon Rainforest.

Guests will have the unique opportunity to experience Rio’s famous Carnival during 3 overnights in the city, adding an exciting cultural element to the voyage. The Grand Voyage will also feature visits to some of the Eastern Caribbean’s most captivating destinations before the journey concludes in Fort Lauderdale on April 1st, 2025.

The Grand Voyage South America 2025 is not only a cruise but an immersive cultural experience, with exclusive events designed to deepen passengers’ connection with the destinations they visit. These events will include:

  • Vineyards & Vines: Valparaiso/Santiago (Chile). On February 8th, 2025, guests will have the chance to visit the Kingston Family Winery in Chile’s renowned Casablanca Valley. The experience will include organic wine tastings, local music, and a traditional Chilean feast, providing a deep dive into Chile’s winemaking heritage.
  • The Greatest Show on Earth: Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). On March 2nd and 3rd, 2025, guests will experience the vibrant energy of Rio’s Carnival from exclusive seating in the Sambadrome, allowing them to witness the passion and creativity of Samba schools and grand floats. This event offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse in the cultural spectacle of one of the world’s most famous celebrations.
  • A Bajan Affair: Bridgetown (Barbados). On March 23rd, 2025, travelers will enjoy an al fresco evening at St. Nicholas Abbey, a historic plantation dating back to 1658. Guests will indulge in Bajan cuisine paired with local rum while enjoying live music in this picturesque setting, offering a taste of Barbados' rich culture.

After completing its circumnavigation of South America, Silver Ray will join sisterships Silver Moon and Silver Shadow in the Caribbean.

From March to May 2025, Silversea will operate 9 voyages in the Caribbean, with a focus on exploring the region's diverse cultures and breathtaking landscapes. This will be part of a broader program with 13 voyages in November and December 2025 and 19 additional sailings in January and February 2026.
