Swan Hellenic has announced its inaugural cultural expedition cruise focusing on oenology and gastronomy. Developed in collaboration with Champagne Castelnau, the 9-night "Legacy of Wine – An Atlantic Voyage" is scheduled to depart from Lisbon (Portugal) on May 12th, 2025, concluding in Portsmouth UK. The itinerary includes calls at Leixoes (Oporto), Ferrol, Santander, Bilbao, Lorient, Roscoff, Saint-Malo, and Honfleur.
Throughout the voyage, passengers will engage in paired tastings, gourmet dining, and gastronomic excursions. These activities will be led by Master of Wine Keith Isaac, General Manager of Castelnau Wine Agencies, and Michelin-starred Chef Heribert Dietrich. The program encompasses visits to vineyards and local delicacy producers, offering daily opportunities to sample regional food and wines that reflect the terroir and winemaking traditions of each area.
Onboard, guests will benefit from Isaac's 36 years of industry experience through guided tastings of premium port, champagnes, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, ciders, and calvados. Chef Dietrich, a member of Jeunes Restaurateurs (JRE) and holder of 16 Gault & Millau points, will collaborate with Isaac each evening to present curated wine and haute cuisine pairings. The culinary experience will culminate in a Gala Dinner towards the end of the voyage.
This expedition offers a comprehensive exploration of the wine and gastronomic heritage of Atlantic Europe, combining cultural site visits with culinary excellence. The "Legacy of Wine – An Atlantic Voyage" represents Swan Hellenic's commitment to providing immersive and educational travel experiences for its guests.
