On January 28th, 2025, a port bridge in Manaus (Brazil) collapsed while P&O's ship Aurora was docked.

The incident occurred ~12:30 PM local time (~16:30 UTC) during sudden strong winds and heavy rainfall. Passengers and crew who were off the ship at the time were brought back onboard using local tender boats.

MS Aurora remained in port overnight/for 2 days following the incident, with local tenders continuing to ensure safe transfers between the vessel and the shore.

Authorities in Manaus have yet to provide an official statement on the cause of the structural failure or any potential casualties.

Aurora is currently on a 65-day "Amazon and Caribbean Exploration Cruise" (roundtrip from Southampton England) which began on January 6th.

The small, adults-only vessel is a popular choice among British travelers seeking extended voyages to exotic global destinations.
