PortMiami sets new record as 10 cruise ships dock on February 8

PortMiami (Florida USA), renowned for handling substantial cruise traffic with 8.2+ million passengers recorded in the last fiscal year, recently set a new benchmark in maritime operations.

On Saturday, February 8th, the port experienced an unprecedented surge when 10 cruise ships docked simultaneously, carrying ~68,000 passengers. According to Miami-Dade County, the vessels included CCL-Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Magic and Carnival Sunrise, HAL-Holland America’s ms Zaandam, MSC CruisesMSC Seascape, NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Gem, Oceania CruisesSirena, RCI-Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas and Independence of the Seas, and Virgin VoyagesScarlet Lady.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava noted that it was unsurprising for PortMiami and the broader cruise industry to continue breaking records, reinforcing Miami’s status as a central hub of global cruise tourism.

Looking ahead, several new ships are slated to call at Miami in the upcoming year. These include MSC World America and Norwegian Aqua in April 2025, Wonder of the Seas in August 2025, Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth in October 2025, Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady in October 2025, and Oceania Cruises’ Allura in November 2025.
