Luftner's brand Amadeus River Cruises is preparing to introduce its newest vessel - Amadeus Aurea, scheduled to enter service in May 2026 on itineraries along the Rhine and Danube.
With a capacity for 158 passengers, the boat is powered by a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system designed to reduce CO emissions. The engines feature high-performance filters that nearly eliminate air pollution, complemented by a heat-recovery system that repurposes thermal energy generated during operation.
The ship has 12 suites and 67 outside cabins with panoramic windows, providing expansive views throughout the voyage. Dining options include the Amadeus Lounge, Cafe Vienna, and Panorama Restaurant, while guests can relax with a beverage at the Lido Bar located on the sundeck adjacent to a heated outdoor pool.
The Passau-homeported Amadeus Aurea will operate itineraries ranging from 8 to 15 days. Among these, the Classical Rhine cruise will take guests from Basel (Switzerland) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with stops in Koblenz, one of Germany’s oldest towns, a vineyard visit, and a tour of Amsterdam’s canals. Meanwhile, the Blue Danube itinerary will sail from Budapest (Hungary) to Nuremberg (Germany), offering experiences such as a food tour, a classical concert, and wine tasting.
In April 2025, Amadeus expands its fleet with the luxury boat Amara.
