On Thursday, February 13th, Carnival Vista made an unscheduled return to St. Thomas USVI after a crew member sustained an injury shortly after the vessel’s departure.
The incident occurred following the ship’s departure from Charlotte Amalie, where it had been docked since 7:00 a.m. Rather than continuing on her planned itinerary, Carnival Vista altered course back to the West Indian Company (WICO) dock to facilitate the crew member’s transfer to shore for medical treatment.
Mark Sabino, director of marine and cruise services at WICO, reported that the crew member suffered a fall, potentially resulting in a broken leg. Further details regarding the injury were not immediately available.
Following the medical evacuation, Carnival Vista resumed her voyage at 8:00 p.m. as scheduled. The ship’s itinerary included 2 sea days before concluding her journey at Port Canaveral (Orlando, Florida) on Sunday morning.
